Martin cuffs share the following basic design features: The shackle profile
is shaped so that it is impossible for a prisoner locked in these cuffs
to rotate his wrists.
The cuffs double lock and the keyholes are only accessible from one face.
If the cuffs are applied with the keyholes facing away from the hands,
it is highly improbable that one could open the cuffs on his own, even
if in possession of a key.

Model XL
This version of the Rigid Cuff has a longer span between
the two cuffs. The length of this span was designed to prevent the wearers
hands from reaching each other.
Also, it now becomes impossible for the prisoner to hide the handcuffs
from public display.
There is a slot cut into the middle of the cuff case allowing a chain
link or padlock to pass through to further secure the cuffs (E.g. to a
belly chain.)
